Lumsden loses out in WTA 500 final at Merida OpenBritish doubles star Maia Lumsden narrowly missed out on the biggest title of her career at the WTA 500 Merida Open alongside partner Isabelle Haverlag.The British, Dutch team reached the final without dropping a set, including a 7-5, 7-5 win over Chinese pair Tang Qianhui and Xu Yifan.However, in the final, they lost against Spain’s Cristina Bucsa and China’s Jiang Xinyu 6-4, 6-1 – finishing runners-up in what was otherwise a milestone week for the Briton.Also at the Merida Open, Katie Boulter reached the quarter-finals of the women’s singles before losing a close battle with world No.7 Jasmine Paolini 0-6, 6-3, 6-3.Gill & Dart reach singles finalsFelix Gill reached his first ATP Challenger Tour singles final over the weekend, competing at the Pune Challenger in India.Gill fought through three three-set matches to reach the semi-finals, where he knocked out eighth seed Edas Butvilas 6-4, 7-5.In the final, Gill had five match points against sixth seed Federico Cina but eventually lost out 6-3, 5-7, 7-6(1).Elsewhere, Harriet Dart also finished runner-up in the W75 Porto singles. In her second final of the season so far, Dart was forced to retire against second seed Anouk Koevermans trailing 6-2, 1-0.Three British ITF titlesThere were three British ITF titles this week with Toby Samuel, Indianna Spink, Adam Jones and Toby Martin lifting silverware.Samuel won his 10th professional singles title at the M25 Vale do Lobo in Portugal – beating fellow Brit Giles Hussey in the final 6-3, 6-4.The 23-year-old is coming off the back of a 2025 campaign where he won five titles including two Challengers in Soma Bay and Manama.Spink sealed her first pro-level singles title last week at the W15 Manacor. Spink defeated Spain’s Carmen Gallardo Guevara 6-3, 7-6(3) in the final to tick off a significant milestone in her young career.Meanwhile in the US, Jones and Martin beat Maxwell Exsted and Miguel Tobon in the M15 Naples final to get their hands on the men’s doubles title.
