At long last, tennis fans may now know what led to the end of Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas’s relationship.

The pair, dubbed “Tsitsidosa” began dating a few years ago after spending time together at Indian Wells. It was a tumultuous run with multiple breakups, but while together, the pair were devoted to one another and a fan favorite.

Over the years, theories about why they broke up could never be substantiated. However, Tsitsipas inadvertantly told the world what happened. The big reveal resulted from Tsitsipas answering a question about whether it is better to have a tennis or non tennis girlfriend.

What Tsitsipas said

Without hesitation, Tsitsipas said a non tennis girlfriend because there is inherent competition with a tennis girlfriend.

Badosa reacted to the social media post with multiple laughing emojis.

Ajla Tomljanovic said something similar regarding her high profile relationship with ex-boyfriend Matteo Berrettini. They were featured in Netflix’s “Break Point” docuseries.

Two tennis players cannot coexist in a relationship, at least while both playing professionally. Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi married after she retired, and he was nearing the end of his career.

Jimmy Connors and Chris Evert could not make their relationship last as young stars rising in the rankings.

Ironically, Tsitsipas’s current girlfriend is a tennis player. Kristen Thoms played in college but is not on the WTA Tour.

The Tsitsidosa days were fun while they lasted, but judging by these comments, they are over for good.
