KSCA get state government nod to host IPL, internationals at Chinnaswamy Stadium

International cricket and IPL matches can now be hosted at Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy stadium again. In a massive development, the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has got the green signal from the Karnataka government to host such fixtures at the venue.

KSCA made the announcement through a press note, which also adds: "The permission is subject to compliance with specific terms and conditions prescribed by the Government and the concerned authorities. KSCA is confident of fulfilling all the stipulated conditions. The Association has already presented a detailed compliance roadmap before the Expert Review Committee and remains fully committed to implementing all safety, security, and crowd-management measures in letter and spirit."

Since the tragic events of June 4 last year when a trophy celebration turned into a stampede, killing 11 people, there have been no matches played at the venue due to security reasons. The recently-concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy games too weren't allotted to the venue, sending most fixtures - including the final - to the BCCI Centre of Excellence on the outskirts of the city. Expectedly, Bengaluru did not host any fixtures in last year's Women's World Cup and is not among the venues for matches in the upcoming Men's T20 World Cup.
