Sri Lanka's Viran Chamuditha created history in the U19 World Cup 2026 during the clash against Japan on Saturday, January 17. Chamuditha scored 192 runs, the highest individual score ever recorded in U19 World Cup history, providing Sri Lanka with a commanding start to the tournament.

Chamuditha’s achievement broke the previous record of 191 set by Hasith Boyagoda against Kenya in the 2018 edition. The innings was notable for endurance and consistency, as Chamuditha struck 26 fours and one six before being dismissed by Timothy Moore.
