BIG EAST Women’s Singles Player of the Week

Madeleine Rexroat, So., Xavier (Milton, Ga.)

Rexroat went 2-0 at No. 2 singles, picking up the highest ranked singles win in program history during Xavier’s match at No. 28 Vanderbilt. Against the Commodores on Friday, the sophomore took a 6-2, 4-6,10-5 win over No. 15 Valeria Ray, marking the first time in program history a Musketeer has defeated a player ranked in the Top 20. In Xavier’s sweep of Lipscomb on Saturday, Rexroat defeated Mariia Dolzhenko in straight sets (6-3, 6-2).

BIG EAST Women’s Doubles Team of the Week

Mithila Dixit (Fr., Olathe, Kan.) & Teresa Tran (Fr., Frisco, Texas), Creighton

Dixit and Tran recorded a perfect 2-0 record at the No. 2 doubles position, dropping just one game to help the Bluejays post a pair of wins over Western Illinois and crosstown rival Omaha. The tandem first defeated Western Illinois’ Nour Gueblaoui and Chloe Routier (6-0) in the Jays 7-0 sweep on Saturday, before cruising to a 6-1 triumph over Omaha’s Jacqueline Pearsall and Shelby Smith in a 4-3 come-from-behind victory over the Mavericks on Sunday afternoon. The freshman duo has now won seven of their last eight doubles matches, which include wins in each of their last four contests.

BIG EAST Men’s Singles Player of the Week

Augusto Pardo Cano, Fr., DePaul (Buenos Aires, Argentina)

Pardo Cano clinched DePaul’s first dual victory of the season, a 4-3 win over BIG EAST opponent Butler, battling to a 4-6, 6-2, 7-6(2) victory at No. 5 singles. After dropping the opening set, he responded with a dominant second set then saved four match points in the third before forcing a tiebreak. He surged to a 7-2 win in the breaker to secure the decisive fourth point for the Blue Demons.
