Man Utd Make Thomas Tuchel Frontrunner to Replace Amorim, He's Open to Job

Manchester United have made England boss Thomas Tuchel a frontrunner to become their next permanent manager, according to iNews.

The Red Devils sacked Ruben Amorim after 14 months in charge earlier this month, and have since replaced him with former midfielder Michael Carrick until the end of the season. But the search has now begun for a new permanent manager for next season.

A number of managers have been shortlisted by INEOS and the board, but it has now emerged that German Tuchel, who has previously managed Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, is among the leading candidates for the role.

Man Utd Want Tuchel as Next Manager

Tuchel, who has been described as one of the best coaches in the world, is currently in charge of the senior England national team ahead of the World Cup this summer, where the team are among the favourites to lift the illustrious trophy.

But the 52-year-old's contract with the FA is set to expire once the tournament comes to an end, and that would leave him free and available to take over at Old Trafford if he so wished.

It's understood that Tuchel may not be willing to stick around in international management because his intense style means he won't want to wait two years for the next major tournament, and some believe that he would be open to taking over at Man Utd if the conditions were right.

Tuchel previously held talks with INEOS as they considered replacing Erik Ten Hag, but he turned down the role as he didn't feel the time was right. But he has experience working under sporting directors and directors of football within the club structure, which could appeal, and that, plus his Premier League experience, has made him a frontrunner for the job.

Tuchel Would Be Ideal Man Utd Manager

Considering all the criteria that INEOS have set for who they want their next Man Utd manager to be, there aren't many who tick all the boxes like Tuchel does.

He has fantastic experience at the highest level, has won trophies everywhere he has been, will command the respect of top players and rival managers, and also has an adaptable style that means he can tweak things depending on the players he has at his disposal.

He will also be available in the summer, and if the club are quick they could wrap a deal up early and start planning ahead of time. Tuchel would be the ideal candidate, and United would be crazy not to take a closer look
