Rory McIlroy is one of golf’s biggest names and his private life has often been part of the public story. He and Erica have often spoken about prioritising family even as his playing schedule demands travel and training. The balance was tested in 2024. Reports were rife that McIlroy filed for divorce in May, citing a breakdown in their relationship. The news surprised many and got a lot of media attention. But, within weeks, the couple reconciled and dismissed the divorce filing. McIlroy later said they sorted out their problems privately and chose to stay together for their family. In 2025 the family announced a move from Florida back to the United Kingdom, a decision McIlroy described as aimed at giving Poppy a closer connection to his roots.
