One of the top prospects in the class of 2025 has committed to Michigan football.

After signing with Utah during the early period last month, Top247 prospect Salesi Moa is flipping to the Wolverines. Moa entered the Transfer Portal on Jan. 12 and committed to U-M on Friday evening, announcing the decision during the 2026 Polynesian Bowl.

Moa, the son of former Utah tight end Ben Moa, was the nation's No. 76 overall prospect in the 2026 class, No. 5 among athletes and No. 1 in the Beehive State, per the 247Sports rankings. He was originally committed to Tennessee as a receiver, took visits — including to Michigan — throughout the fall of 2025, and ultimately signed with the Utes.

But Moa has reconsidered, and he will instead come to Ann Arbor as someone who could provide an instant impact for the Wolverines — potentially on both offense and defense. Scouts believe that Moa has a legitimate shot to play on both sides of the ball at the collegiate level. He primarily played receiver throughout the Under Armour All-America Game earlier this month but was listed as a defensive back for the Polynesian Bowl.

"Perhaps the best pure pass-catcher to come out of the state since Puka Nacua in the 2019 class," wrote 247Sports' Blair Angulo. "Moa has special traits at receiver. He can high-point the football with the best of them, is a smooth route runner who can gain separation early in his routes, and is natural with all his movements, looking fluid in and out of his breaks while making tough catches look easy."

Moa projects as a defensive back on that side of the ball, with game-changing athleticism that could see him at corner, deep safety or nickel.

His 247Sports evaluation, via 247Sports Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins:

"Productive two-way athlete with slick athleticism that could play on either side of the ball in college, but might make the most sense at wide receiver," Ivins wrote in the evaluation report. "Frequently finds ways to slip behind defenders and race into the deeper third as he's a technically advanced route runner that can mix gears and create separation.

"Shifty and elusive after the catch with his agility and vision, but probably lacks a true breakaway gear at this stage. Constantly plays with a chip on his shoulder and doesn't lack physicality as he hits people on defense and tries to move people as a perimeter blocker on offense. Might be trending towards being a pass catcher on Saturdays, but displays favorable football IQ at safety as he constantly puts himself in position to make plays."
