Horned Frogs Notch Eighth Top

FORT WORTH – UCF threw the first punch on Friday, but the Horned Frogs delivered the second and ensured there would not be a third.

No. 5 TCU rallied for a 4-1 victory over the 12th-ranked Knights at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center in a Big 12 dual. The Horned Frogs lost the doubles point but countered with a sweep of courts one through four in singles.

Duncan Chan and Cooper Woestendick put the Frogs (14-5, 3-1 Big 12) in front via a pair of straight set wins over the Knights' highest-ranked players in No. 71 Yassine Dlimi and No. 83 Wissam Abderrahman. Albert Pedrico stretched the lead to 3-1 with a victory on the 4-line. Oliver Bonding then earned the match-clincher – the first of his career – after coming back from a set down on court three to secure a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 victory over Mehdi Benchakroun.

UCF (17-3, 3-1 Big 12) became the eighth top-25 team TCU has defeated thus far in the 2026 campaign.

TCU extended its outdoor home winning streak to 27 matches with the result. The Frogs have not lost on the Bartzen Varsity Courts since March 22, 2023. TCU is now 53-2 at home over the last four seasons.

The Horned Frogs improved to 6-1 all-time and 4-1 in Big 12 play vs. the Knights.

Friday's dual marked the first time this season TCU has won a match after dropping the doubles point.

Doubles Rundown

TCU played its second consecutive match without Cosme Rolland De Ravel, one-half of the nation's No. 2 ranked doubles team alongside chan. His absence again loomed large, as the Frogs were forced to alter the composition of their preferred pairings.

Bonding was elevated from his usual spot on court three to the top alongside Chan for a match vs. Dlimi and Paul Colin. Bonding and Chan led 6-5 when play was stopped. Neither team was able to land a break.

Maximus Dussault partnered with Filip Apltauer on the bottom in Bonding's absence. They raced ahead to a 4-1 lead vs. Luca Hotze and Nicolas Oliveira, only to be broken twice in an eventual 7-5 defeat.

Pedrico and Woestendick suffered their first loss of the season as partners, falling 6-3 to Abderrahman and Benchakroun.

TCU lost the doubles point on the outdoor purple courts for only the second time in the last three seasons. UCF is responsible for both of the doubles defeats. The Knights snatched the doubles point from TCU on April 13, 2024 in the programs' first Big 12 battle. TCU went on to win the match 4-3.

The Horned Frogs came up short on court two for the first time all season.

TCU's season doubles record now stands at 16-3.

Combined with its 4-0 loss at No. 15 Arizona on Sunday, TCU has now dropped the doubles point in consecutive matches for the first time since the 2024 ITA Indoor National Championships.

Singles Rundown

UCF had all the momentum following doubles, with Rolland De Ravel sidelined and TCU trailing 1-0.

The Horned Frogs quickly regained the initiative, claiming four first sets.

Chan, the ITA No. 7 singles player, was the first player to put a set and a court on the board, taking down Dlimi 6-3, 6-4.

TCU either led or was level on the five remaining courts following Chan's triumph.

Woestendick and Pedrico put away their matches moments later. Woestendick was off the court first, putting away Abderrahman 6-3, 6-2. Leading 4-3 in set one, the sophomore broke on a deuce point and permanently swung the momentum in his favor.

Pedrico squared off with Pedro Rodrigues on court four. He took set one 7-5 before winning four straight games to close out a 6-2 second frame.

Roger Pascual nearly beat Bonding to the clinch. He led Paul Colin 6-2, 5-4 on court five before giving up a break and eventually leaving his match unfinished.
