Liverpool and Arsenal have four Marc Guehi alternatives as Man City 'close in' on transfer

0
Liverpool and Arsenal may be forced to identify new transfer targets after Manchester City made a breakthrough in their pursuit of Marc Guehi. Several of Europe's top clubs have been linked with a move for the England international, who will become a free agent in the summer. He has shown no intention of signing a new deal at Crystal Palace and looks destined to leave Selhurst Park in the near future.

Guehi was very close to joining Liverpool in the summer but the deal fell through because Palace were unable to sign a replacement. Now, it seems he is edging towards a move to the Etihad Stadium with Fabrizio Romano suggesting that City have succeeded with a £20million bid. As such, the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal will have to consider alternative options.

Maxence Lacroix

The towering Frenchman has been playing alongside Guehi in south London and would be a solid acquisition for a top Premier League club this window.

He still has plenty of room for growth at the age of 25 and could develop into one of the division's best defenders over the coming years. However, it seems unlikely that Palace would be willing to sell Lacroix in addition to Guehi.

Joel Ordonez

Ordonez was linked with Liverpool earlier in the window, which suggests the Reds may already know lots about what he could bring to the table.

The future looks incredibly bright for the young defender and he could be worth every penny of Club Brugge's reported £35m asking price.

Ousmane Diomande

Another budding defender with huge potential, the Sporting man is no stranger to a transfer rumour, having been previously linked with a handful of Premier League clubs.

Palace wanted Diomande in the summer and could revive their interest in him if Guehi leaves, but it's unlikely that he would pick them over Liverpool or Arsenal.

Konstantinos Koulierakis

The youngster from Greece would be a fascinating option for a top Premier League club this month, having excelled since joining Wolfsburg in the summer of 2024.

He has already been linked with Liverpool, with the Reds thought to have been keeping tabs on him in the summer. However, a successful January move won't come cheap with the 22-year-old tied down until 2029.
