All set for a massive game in Kolkata.

This ground has spun the least of any of those used at this World Cup, which will be a relief to England after Wednesday's struggles.

Harry Brook led the chat in England's pre-match huddle. The message? They have been saying ever since leaving the field against the Windies that they want to attack.

A narrow win against Nepal was followed by the defeat by West Indies means Harry Brook's England must beat Scotland here to keep their hopes of progressing to the Super 8s of the T20 World Cup in their own hands.

The same applies to Scotland too, as these sides meet for the first time in international cricket since the group stage of the 2024 T20 World Cup - a match that was abandoned because of rain.

Before that, they had not faced each other since Scotland famously stunned England in an ODI in Edinburgh in 2018.

The Scots will be hoping to tap into that spirit again today to take a major step toward the Super 8s.

Scotland captain Richie Berrington: "We would have batted first. The toss shouldn't make too much of a difference here. The pitch looks pretty similar as we have played last couple of games here. It's a good batting track. The key will be how we play their spin in the middle period.

"We are up against a very good England side. They are used to travelling and adapting to different conditions. But it's been a good experience for us to get used to the conditions here."

England captain Harry Brook: "We fancy chasing here because it's a quick outfield and meant to be a good wicket. Hopefully we can restrict them to as few as possible.

"We announced the team yesterday just to give the team a bit more clarity knowing they are going to be playing and to prepare the day before. We were a little bit too careful chasing [against West Indies]. We could've taken on bit more aggressive options. Hopefully, we can improve on that today.

"Scotland have had a decent stary and they know the conditions here already."

England win toss and bowl

The news from the middle is that England have won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Harry Brook's side will be eager to avoid a repeat of the defeat by West Indies as they look to handle the pressure of batting second once again.
