Manchester United have made a habit of signing wonderkids under Ineos, but to land their next target, they’ll have to beat Arsenal.

There has been a noticeable shift in transfer strategy since the Ineos takeover, with Manchester United piling more resources into signing exciting wonderkids.

United are then using Carrington and sister club Lausanne to develop young players. Sekou Kone is at Lausanne alongside fellow United prospect Enzo Kana-Biyik.

The Red Devils also raided Arsenal for Chido Obi and Ayden Heaven – two deals that have already proven to be absolute bargains for United.

Now, United are being pitted against Arsenal in a race to sign Blackburn Rovers striker Igor Tyjon.

Man United want to sign wonderkid Igor Tyjon

According to The Sun, United have joined the race to sign 17-year-old striker Tyjon following his impressive breakthrough with Blackburn.

The report claims that Arsenal are the current favourites to land Tyjon having already had multiple bids of over £1 million rejected.

United were linked with Tyjon in 2024 and it seems Ineos are ready to follow that interest by challenging for his signature.

Tyjon was on trial with United previously, and now a return to Carrington could be on the cards.

JJ Gabriel and Shea Lacey are obviously exciting but who else are you excited by?

Tyjon’s current scholarship deal expires at the end of the season, meaning Rovers would only be due a compensation package for the young striker to leave.

Arsenal view Tyjon as a replacement for Chido Obi after he left for Manchester. Meanwhile, United want both young strikers on their books.

Igor Tyjon tore Manchester City apart this season

Tyjon will not exactly be a household name for United supporters, but there are plenty of reasons to be excited about his potential.

Born in Southport, the young English striker has been very impressive in Blackburn’s youth ranks. He has made the bench three times in their Championship squads this season, but his only senior appearance came against Bradford in the Carabao Cup.

Tyjon has played most of his football in Premier League 2, where he has scored three goals in three games for Rovers.

It includes one goal and one assist in a 2-0 win over Manchester City’s Under-21s back in October, despite Tyjon only playing 45 minutes of that match.

Tyjon typically plays as a centre-forward, although he can also drop deeper and act as an attacking midfielder.
