EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State's men's tennis will tangle with the No. 29 Arizona Wildcats on Tuesday in Tuscon, Arizona at UA's LaNelle Robson Tennis Center. First serve is slated for 3 p.m. EST/1 p.m. MST.

It is the second match-up between the Spartans and Wildcats in five days, having just played in the first round of the Diablos Invite in Tempe, Arizona on Friday. Arizona beat MSU, 4-1, and the Wildcats went on to win the tournament, beating in-state rival No. 11 Arizona State on Saturday.

In Friday's match, the Spartans struck first, claiming the doubles to get the early 1-0 lead. The Spartan duo of junior Taym Alazmeh and sophomore Danial Rakhmatullayev secured their win 6-4, while redshirt-senior Aristotelis Thanos and sophomore Mitchell Sheldon followed suit with a 6-3 win.

In singles play, the Spartans fought hard but were unable to secure additional points. At No. 1 singles, sophomore Matthew Forbes was defeated 2-6, 2-6. Alazmeh fell short 5-7, 3-6 and Sheldon lost a hard-fought 6-7 (5-7), 4-6 match. Three Spartans, Thanos, senior Ozan Baris, and senior David Saye all had matches go unfinished. Ultimately, the Spartans fell to the Wildcats by a 4-1.

Day one ended with the Spartans facing Boise State in doubles, with singles matches following the next morning. Once again, the Spartans were on the board early, taking the doubles point and leading the score 1-0. Thanos and Sheldon earned a quick 6-1 victory over Julius Seifert and Taiyo Kurata. Shortly after, Rakhmatullayev and Alazmeh defeated Carson Baker and Avery Tallakson, 6-4.

MSU bounced back from Friday's defeat and rallied with sweeps over No. 68 Boise State and No. 64 Washington.
