Hasan Nawaz was dropped from Pakistan's squads for poor form, replaced by Fakhar Zaman for the Tri-series. PCB directed Hasan to play the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy to gain experience.

Pakistani batsman Hasan Nawaz was released from the national one-day and T20 squads on Sunday due to poor form for the series against Sri Lanka and the Tri-series. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that Hasan Nawaz has been directed to participate in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy first-class tournament.

The PCB stated that opener Fakhar Zaman would replace Hasan in the T20 squad for the Tri-series involving Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, starting November 17. However, no replacement will be made for Hasan in the ODI squad for the three-match series against Sri Lanka, beginning November 11 in Rawalpindi, since Abdul Samad is already playing for the Pakistan Shaheens in the Asia Cup rising stars. Samad had been previously selected for the Tri-series.

Head coach Mike Hesson confirmed following Pakistan’s 2-1 one-day series win over South Africa on Saturday that Hasan had been advised to focus on domestic first-class cricket.

A reliable source revealed that Hesson was not impressed with Hasan’s ability to learn and improve, citing his lack of experience in first-class cricket. The 23-year-old Hasan has played only 12 first-class matches since 2023, prioritizing white-ball cricket, particularly the T20 format.

Hasan participated in the T20I series against South Africa but struggled to perform. He also featured in the first ODI against the Proteas but did not make an impact.
