1 Real Madrid: Liverpool fans mock Trent Alexander

Real Madrid's shock 2-1 loss to Osasuna caught Liverpool fans' attention and they cheekily ridiculed Trent Alexander-Arnold's display. Alvaro Arbeloa's men spurned the chance to move five points clear of Barcelona at the top of La Liga.

Ante Budimir gave the hosts the lead from the penalty spot in the 38th minute before Vinicius Junior equalised in the 73rd minute. It looked as though Madrid would settle on a point until defensive calamity allowed Osasuna to pounce and Raul Garcia netted a 90th minute winner.

Dani Ceballos gave the ball away and Osasuna broke forward before Garcia eventually buried the ball into the back of Thibaut Courtois' net. It was a nightmare for Los Blancos who suffered their first La Liga defeat since Arbeloa took over in early January.

Osasuna 2-1 Real Madrid: Alexander-Arnold's defensive concerns

Alexander-Arnold came on in the second half and helped Madrid get control of the game. The English right-back started on the bench as Arbeloa wants to manage his minutes amid an injury-ridden debut season.

Osasuna's winner highlighted the 27-year-old's defensive vulnerabilities. He was in decisive when the ball was played to Garcia and didn't look at ease when the hosts broke forward.

Alexander-Arnold's defending was a constant criticism during his time at Liverpool. Wayne Rooney warned the Englishman it was something that needed working on ahead of the 1-0 win over Benfica midweek.

Liverpool fans mock Alexander-Arnold

Alexander-Arnold made a controversial move to Madrid when he left boyhood club Liverpool. His decision didn't go down well with fans who felt he abandoned a club that gave him the opportunity to become one of the biggest names in English football.

It is inevitable that any mistake or poor performance will be focused on by the Anfield faithful. That was the case for their former vice-captain after his display against Osasuna.

A clip of his indecisivieness for Garcia's goal was posted online. Fans mocked the England international.

One wrote: "Look at Trent (crying emoji)."

Another responded: "Was the best player in the world according to them just a few days ago."

One supporter gave a brutal verdict: "Bros got the Defensive Awareness of a Chicken Nugget."

Another compared his defending to that of Liverpool's 2-2 draw to Manchester United last season: "This has such strong vibe of that goal we conceded against Man U when he strolled around."

One added: "He still can't defend."

Another fan wasn't surprised: "It's just Trent being himself. Nothing surprising here."

One ridiculed his approach: "Trent running around like a headless chicken, didn’t even try and put a tackle in."

Alexander-Arnold made his 15th appearance of the season in the loss to Osasuna. He will likely start Madrid's UEFA Champions League play-off second leg against Benfica on Wednesday (February 25th).
