The Sydney Sixers have thanked dual title-winning BBL head coach, Greg Shipperd, following today’s announcement from Cricket NSW that he would leave the club following the KFC BBL|15 season.

Shipperd departs the Sixers after an outstanding coaching career spanning more than three decades, during which he established himself as one of Australian cricket’s most respected and accomplished leaders.

In August 2015, Shipperd was appointed head coach of the Sydney Sixers, a role he held for eleven seasons.

Under his leadership, the Sixers have been one of the most consistent teams in the Big Bash League, missing the finals series only twice, reaching the title decider on five occasions and claiming back-to-back championships in BBL|09 and BBL|10.

Sydney Sixers General Manager Rachael Haynes paid tribute to Shipperd’s contribution to the club.

“Greg’s contribution to the Sydney Sixers over eight seasons has been immense, and we are incredibly grateful for everything he has given to this club,” Haynes said.

“He has led the team through finals campaigns, delivered championships, and consistently set high standards across our program.”

“Greg’s leadership, integrity and care for people have shaped our playing group and staff, and his influence will be felt long beyond his tenure.

“We thank him wholeheartedly for his dedication and service. He will be missed by players and staff alike, and we wish him every success in the next chapter of his distinguished career.”

Shipperd will conclude his tenure as Head Coach of the NSW Blues at the end of their season.
