Jadeja played all three ODIs for India in the ongoing series against New Zealand but failed to take even one wicket.

Ravindra Jadeja played all three ODIs for India in the ongoing three-match series against New Zealand, but the legendary all-rounder from Jamnagar failed to take even one wicket. He bowled six overs for the hosts in the series decider taking place at Holkar Stadium in Indore on Sunday (January 18) and conceded 41 runs but remained wicketless. In the earlier two matches, he bowled nine and eight overs, respectively, but was unable to dismiss any Kiwi batter.

In fact, in his last six ODIs for India, Jadeja has only managed to take one wicket. His poor form with the ball invited a lot of criticism for him, and some fans even questioned his place in the XI.

Amid Jadeja’s horror show with the ball, his former U19 India teammate Shreevats Goswami took to X on Sunday evening to post a tweet in which he raised question marks over Jadeja’s future in 50-over matches for India.

In his now viral tweet, Goswami, who shared the dressing room with Jadeja in the 2008 U19 World Cup that India won under Virat Kohli’s leadership, stated that he has a feeling that the ongoing third ODI against New Zealand could well be Jadeja’s last 50-over match for India.

“Ravindra jadeja has been a stalwart for India over the years & has been a match winner, but just get a feeling this could well be his last ODI in India ? We should celebrate him before he silently exits cause India plays next odi only in June against England in England," Goswami tweeted.

Apart from his bowling, Jadeja has failed to make any significant contribution with the bat as well in recent matches.

He had a great chance to play a big knock for India in the second ODI, but he failed to make the most of the opportunity that came his way and got out after scoring just 27 runs from 44 balls.

In the series opener, he was sent to bat at No. 5, ahead of KL Rahul, but in that match as well, he got out after scoring just 4 runs from 5 balls in the 301-run chase.

Jadeja, who is one of the greatest all-rounders of all time, was preferred over Axar Patel for the ongoing series as well as the three-match series against South Africa last month, but in both the home series, Jadeja failed to live up to the expectations.
