The tip that could shine a light on Port Adelaide star Zak Butters’ football future in Victoria

I’ve told you about the state of play on the trip to Adelaide – a journey that plenty are making this weekend. But a hot topic this season is a potential trip away from the city. And I received a tip this week that might shine a little light on the situation.

It’s no secret that Port Adelaide star Zak Butters, a restricted free agent at season’s end, is being hunted by the Western Bulldogs, Geelong, Essendon, Hawthorn, Melbourne and, according to Footy Classified’s Cal Twomey, now Richmond.

But here’s the word from real estate watchers: a rental in Williamstown just received its first applicant. The name on the application?

Z Butters.

It’s been a hot minute.

The last time I wrote a “Scoop” column was in September, and “Scoop in April” doesn’t have quite the same ring to it. Luckily, this time I’m headed across the border for Gather Round – so welcome to Scoop in South Australia.

I’m pumped to “gather” for the first time, and I can tell you there was plenty to report before the plane even left the tarmac at Melbourne Airport on Wednesday.

This columnist wasn’t the only one heading west to the city of churches. In fact, you had to look no further than seat 1A to spot football royalty.
