The president of the African Confederation of Football met with the Senegalese president following the CAF's decision to withdraw the AFCON 2025 award from the Senegalese team and give it to the runners-up, Morocco, making them the current champions of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025.

Patrice Motsepe, the South African president of CAF, arrived in Senegal after the confederation's appeals committee decided on March 17 to declare the Moroccan team as champions of the tournament that had its final on January 18, all because the Lions of Teranga, after a penalty they took almost at the end of the match, decided to leave the field. The Senegalese Football Federation decided to respond to this CAF measure and filed another measure before the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

This visit aimed to calm the waters between the confederation and the country after what happened; Motsepe was received by Abdallah Faye, who is now the president of the Senegalese Football Federation. The visit will include some stops at tourist and historical sites before officially meeting with the President of the nation of Senegal, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, at the presidential palace.
